Planned Gifts

Many donors choose to leave charitable assets upon their deaths. After assuring that their loved ones have been cared for in their estate plans donors can use a variety of assets for charitable purposes, such as part of a pension plan, a bequest in their will, a part of a life insurance policy, or even part of the proceeds from the sale of stock or a house. There are many other creative ways to make estate gifts which offer immediate tax advantages while providing for his or her everyday needs throughout life leaving a portion of the remainder of the estate to a charity.

The Sarasota Chorus of the Keys and quartets seek to preserve and further develop the original American art form of four-part a cappella harmony - barbershop harmony - while striving for musical excellence and performing frequently for the broadest possible spectrum of Southwest Florida audiences. The Chorus is committed to contributing to the cultural development of the community through responsible public service; while providing a charitable support to benefit school music educators and young men participating in their music programs.

Through our Sheridan E. Brown Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund, funded from estate gifts of several of our chorus families, we provide scholarships to college bound needy male high school seniors with exceptional achievements in the field of music.

The Erd Dahl Legacy Fund, an endowment fund which serves as a companion to the Brown Scholarship Fund, provides us an annual income to support other responsible charitable community support and public service programs. These funds are invested in the endowment funds of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. This means that our Legacy Fund is pooled with over $135 million in local charitable funds which will give us the highest possible level of accountability while providing us the economy of scale.
